POT LUCK DINNERS
Monday, January 18, 2021
This year we are keeping up the tradition of the January Pot Luck Dinners with a small twist to them. Just think, ladies: NO hosting, NO cooking, NO late-night driving and dealing with the elements. It will all be virtual through ZOOM, as is the rest of our lives lately. You can join us from the comfort of your home. We will have two sessions, brunch/lunch at 11:30 a.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. There is also a third option: you can attend both sessions since you do not have to leave your home. We will be in chat rooms of six persons to make for easier conversation and to meet new people. An invitation will be sent out to you early in January. Do not hesitate to contact Carole Newberry or Mary Vlahos if you have any questions.
Information on the  Zoom sign-in will be sent shortly

Barbara Lewis and her team will help put us in the Christmas spirit.

Picture

Barbara Lewis performs powerful folk and pop songs that are both entertaining and highly emotional. With her wide-range, classically-trained voice, vulnerable stage presence and elegant storytelling ability, she is known as “a hugely gifted singer, a born communicator.”  Barbara is also a vocal coach who specializes in working with singers over 40 - both beginners and professionals. Her YouTube channel is called, Singing After 40.
Picture
Doug Balfour is a multi faceted pianist, arranger, composer and as of late a singer. He worked extensively in music theatre as a music direct, arranger, and keyboardist. As an accompanist, he has played with the likes of Barbara Lewis, Suzi Wesson, Karin Plato, and on a couple of brief occasions Michael Bublé. An old time rock n roller, he still plays with Toronto's legendary Robbie Lane and the Disciples

Picture
Beverly McGuire is a well-known singer and voice teacher in many Montreal circles. Her versatility as a performer has charmed audiences in classical, Celtic and folk music. Equally compelling as an opera singer or accompanying herself in a ballad with acoustic guitar, she brings a sincerity to the music she serves.

Speaker: Colin Rose, M.D., Ph.D.
Monday, November 12, 2018
Karnak Shriners' Temple

Dr. Colin Rose will speak about cardio-metabolic diseases which are a spectrum of metabolic derangements, such as high blood pressure, diabetes and atherosclerosis that are directly related to lifestyle choices that kill and maim millions of people per year. Treatment of these diseases by surgery and drugs is expensive and largely futile in terms of life expectancy. For example, the USA spends far more than any other developed country on its medical system but has the lowest of any measure of health. This talk will explain how the individual’s environment can cause disease and describe current recommendations to optimize habits to prevent and treat cardio-metabolic disease.
